Hicks Hicks and more Hicks

Alleged Australian Terror suspect David Hicks, has spent the last 5 years in a U.S military prison pending charges.

5 years ago when David Hicks was captured as a enemy combatant, Australias view on the situation was one of indifference and apathy, who wants a terrorist combatant in their country?

But due to American incompetence or perhapse lack of evidence David has languished for far too long for even the Australian public to stomach. The Australian view point is if they have evidence against David then why has it taken so long to lay charges? if what he did was wrong why is he being tried under a retroactive law. If they have all the evidence they need then why are they still questioning him 5 years on?

the U.S has handled this situation badly, and has been made worse by John Howards refusal to demand the release of David.

But will Australians be so forgiving if/when David is eventually repatriated back to Australia, i believe that he has a responsibility to explain to us why he was in Afganistan, why when he heard the U.S and Australian soldiers were going to eliminate the Taliban he went to Afganistan to Kill Australian soldiers?

There are many questions that need answering from both sides of this case.
